2016-17 College Playoff Dates Announced

The dates for the 2016-17 college playoffs have been released by U.S.A. Rugby and it includes a few changes. The biggest change is that the DI-AA will see a split championship  with a Fall and a Spring champion. Those two teams will then meet in the final at the end of the year. That follows the pattern that has been set by women's teams over the last few years and it's done to help accommodate the differences between teams on the east coast and the west coast. For teams in the east the Fall is the best season while western teams like the Spring.

The Fall championships, which including the Women's DI and DII, and the men's DI-AA will start with the play-in round on November 12th or earlier. The regionals then take place on November 19th and 20th followed by the finals on December 3rd and 4th.

The Spring championships will start on April 1st and 2nd. That is going to force some teams to start earlier than in the past. The Women's DI, DII and Men's DI-AA regionals will be helped on April 8th and 9th. The finals will be on April 22nd and 23rd.

The National Championships will culminate on May 6th for the Women's DI Elite, Men's DI-A, and DI-AA. The Women's DI and DII finals will be determined later. The Men's DII championship will be awarded at the same time as the fall championships.
