Baumann Gains Wellington Opportunity

The upcoming Mitre 10 Cup in New Zealand could have another American in it thanks to Chris Baumann being offered a contract from Wellington. From what TIAR understands a couple of things need to work out for it to happen but the odds of Baumann suiting up for the Lions in the competition are very high. Baumann will of course be playing with Denver this weekend for the PRO Rugby championship.

Baumann potentially joining up with Wellington is yet another signal of what PRO Rugby can potentially do for American and even overseas players as a platform. Already you had the likes of David Tameilau head to Newcastle, Dom Waldouck will have a trial with the same club, and Langilangi Haupeakui is training with Harlequins next week.

As noted, there are other Americans either already scheduled or are likely to play in the Mitre 10 Cup. Pasqualle Dunn is playing with Auckland, Tony Lamborn usually suits up for Hawke's Bay, and Toni Pulu will play for Counties Manukau.
