Thretton Palamo Officially Joins Bristol

It was rumored last week and now it's official. Thretton Palamo will be joining Bristol next season as the club enters the Premiership.
The move means the return for Palamo to the top flight in England. He was previously on the books of Saracens where he made a few appearances. He then went on loan to London Welsh before leaving to head back to the OTC to try and make the experience. It's expected that he'll still compete for a spot in Rio and will join the team after 7s camp.

In a release Director of Rugby Andy Robinson noted that “Thretton is a big, physical player who has explosive power and pace. Thretton is raw and has lots to learn, but we are confident he can flourish in our environment. We’ve seen in the past with the likes of David Lemi and Fautua Otto that there are players on the sevens circuit who can make a real impact in the fifteens game.”

For his part Palamo expressed that "it’s a fresh challenge at Bristol and another opportunity to prove myself in the top flight of English rugby. Hopefully I can bring some of the skills and experience I’ve taken from the Sevens circuit and contribute to the fast-flowing game that Andy [Robinson] wants to play.”

  1. Big congrats to Thretton!

  2. I think this is a good move. IMO he got way to big for sevens while he was doing the football thing. He was struggling to have an impact on the team like he used to when he was younger. I think his niche is 15s now. That said, full time focus on rugby in an environment like Bristol has the potential of turning him into one of USA 15s stars.
