PRO Rugby Power Rankings: Denver Firmly At The Top

There are no changes in our PRO Rugby Power Rankings this weekend thanks to Denver's win over San Diego. However, Denver are much more firmly entrenched in the number one spot and it's going to take something special to knock them off that the rest of the season.

1. Denver (6-0-0; LW: 1; beat San Diego 24-23): The win wasn't always assured and Denver had to get some late heroics but a win is a win and now they are the only unbeaten team halfway through the season and if things go their way are just four games away from clinching first place. Will Magie was fantastic on the weekend but so were players like Hanco Germishuys, Pedrie Wannenburg, Martin Knoetze, and others. They still have a long way to go the rest of the way and there are some warning signs but if they can continue to pull out wins that's all the matters. Up next: Bye

2. San Diego (4-2-0; LW: 2; lost to Denver 24-23): San Diego were so close to beating Denver and moving into first place. Now they find themselves more than a game back and with a lot of pressure to win out the rest of the season. Kurt Morath is helping with his boot and injuries have cost the team at times but they still need to find a way to beat Denver if they want to get back in the title race. Up next: Ohio

3. Ohio (3-3-0; LW: 3; Bye): The Aviators face a big, big match against San Diego this weekend. A win and they move into second place. A loss and they are all but destined to finish third or lower. Up next: San Diego

4. San Francisco (1-5-0; LW: 4; Bye): San Francisco are in the middle of a big rest period which probably doesn't come at the best time for the team considering they just picked up their first win of the season. Up next: Bye

5. Sacramento (1-5-0; LW: 5; Bye): Sacramento are also having some time off. That's probably a good thing for a team searching for answers. Up next: Bye
