Women's DI & DII Quarterfinals Set

The women's playoffs get underway in earnest this weekend with the quarterfinals. We take a look at the match-ups.

In the West regional the defending champion Seattle Saracens will take on the Santa Monica Dolphins. The Saracens have played a difficult season up in British Columbia and they come back hardened for another run. They will be missing Ryan Carlyle to Eagles duty and Emilie Bydwell has retired but they have added more new names and are a favorite to win once again. The Dolphins were the best in the Pacific South but they are facing a Saracens team that is probably too much to beat.

The other quarterfinal in the match has the Denver Black Ice against the Austin Valkyries. This one should be close. The Black Ice didn't have to go through qualification as the only DI team in the Frontier but they have played against the likes of the Glendale Raptors. That will have toughened them up to take on the Valkyries, the winner from the Red River. We're going to give the edge to the Black Ice.

The final spot in the quarterfinals was taken last weekend when Beantown beat NOVA 32-17. Beantown will have to get past Chicago North Shore this year. Chicago have always been a very tough team to beat and will be so against Beantown. You have a feeling that maybe the team that advances will make the final. We're giving the edge to Beantown. The other semi-final has Boston against Raleigh. We see Boston winning.

The Life West Gladatrix are one of the favorites to win not only the West but the entire DII as well. They will take on the Ventura County Ladies in the quarterfinals. The other quarterfinal will be Houston Athletic vs. the Kansas City Jazz.

Wisconsin are they team to watch in the East. They will play Charlotte. Burling and Harrisburg will play in the other quarterfinal.
