Tony Pacheco Leaving Central Washington

Tony Pacheco is leaving Central Washington. Pacheco, who led the team prior to their transition to Varsity status in 204 and helped guid them to that point, was a graduate of the school and had been the coach for a number of years. In addition to his coaching duties for the men's team he was also the Director of Rugby and helped lead the formation for the successful women's teams.  During his tenure the Wildcats have improved every season making the Varsity Cup semi-finals each year. This year they came within a missed kick of knocking off Cal. The team has also produced a number of All-Americans over the years as well as Eagles players.

"I am extremely proud of what we have been able to accomplish over the past ten years, the move we made in 2014 was truly unprecedented," said Pacheco said in a school release. "However, I feel that it is time for me to find a different challenge. I'd like to thank the visionary administration for this opportunity, and thank you to all the people in the CWU Rugby family."

"I respect Tony's decision and want to thank him for the many contributions he made to CWU Rugby and leading the transition of the program from club to varsity," said Director of Athletics Dennis Francois. "The success of the program speaks volumes to the quality of student-athletes Tony has been able to attract to CWU and I am confident that the program is on solid footing as we begin our search for his replacement."
