Nike Rugby Camps & The Rugger's Edge Partner

Press Release

Nike Rugby Camps and The Rugger’s Edge formally announced their partnership for 2016 at two of their premiere camps this upcoming summer at Stanford University and the University of Colorado, Boulder. Nike Rugby Camps and The Rugger’s Edge are committed to providing guidance to high school aged student-athletes who wish to pursue studying and playing rugby in college.

The Rugger’s Edge owner and founder, Karen Fong Donoghue, has long established an informal relationship with Nike Rugby Camps over the years providing info sessions at the San Diego, Stanford and CU Boulder camps, however, this marks the official formation of their continued collaboration. Both the Stanford University and CU Boulder camp have had a steady increase in college bound prospects attending their camps and providing an avenue for both students and parents to learn about the process is beneficial for attendees.

"We are thrilled to work with Nike Rugby Camps this summer,” said Karen Fong Donoghue, owner and founder of The Rugger’s Edge. "Many top student athletes attend these camps but lack the knowledge about how to further their education and rugby careers. I have known Stanford Camp director Josh Sutcliffe and CU Boulder Camp director Zach Fenoglio for many years and with the immense growth in both high school and college rugby, we all agreed that this was something that needed to be provided to campers."

Campers and their parents at both camps will be provided a private College Rugby Seminar presented by Fong Donoghue. The CU Boulder Seminar will be held on June 21 from 4-5p (CU Boulder Classroom TBD) and the Stanford Camp Seminar will be held on June 23 from 11a – 12p at the Steuber Rugby Fieldhouse.

"As much as possible, we want all campers to be able to leave camp with not only the athletic tools to develop into fine collegiate players, but also understand the critical steps they need to take in their overall academic planning,” remarked Fong Donoghue.

“Partnering with The Ruggers Edge offers a huge value-add for us,” states Jason West, Nike Rugby Camps senior vice president. We share a common objective with Karen in attempting to provide young athletes with a roadmap for success on and off the rugby field. Hopefully our campers and their parents take advantage of her expertise this summer.”
