Men, Women Falcons See Success In Pool Play

Men Falcons

The Men Falcons got off to a great start at the Howard Hinton 7s with a four try to one win over IDF, a French development team. The U.S. got two tries in the first half with the last one being scored by Pat Blair. The second half started out in great fashion when the Falcons took the kick into the corner for the try. ConRoy Smith then showed off his pace for a try of his own. IDF scored one late but the Falcons were well in control. In their second match of the day they didn't have as much success falling to Germany 26-7.

Women Falcons

The Women Falcons were perfect through their pool play at the London 7s invitational. The tournament is not an official World Rugby tournament but it has many of the top teams participating and is somewhat of a mirror of the Olympics.

The U.S. beat Japan first 19-10 before moving on to beat Brazil 19-7 (or 17-7 depending on different sources). Last up was a big match against Great Britain. With the Olympics in just a few months Great Britain is coming together more as a team and have many of the same players that have starred for England. However, the U.S. did what they needed to do with a 21-12 win.

They will now play Spain in the quarterfinals tomorrow.

Roster: Bui Baravilala, Ryan Carlyle, Nana Fa'avesi, Carmen Farmer, Vix Folayan, Nicole Heavirland, Jessica Javelet, Kathryn Johnson, Alev Kelter, Jillion Potter, Richelle Stephens, Kristen Thomas
