Eloff Out With Broken Leg

Ohio are going to be looking for a new starting fly-half after JP Eloff broke his leg against San Diego on Sunday. In posting on social media Eloff explained that he broke his fibula and tore his ankle ligaments. He had surgery yesterday and is now on his way back to Ohio. The timeline was his recovery is unclear but with two and a half months left in the regular season it seems unlikely he will return in time. Additionally, it should be out for the Eagles two summer matches where he may have been called in at either fly-half or fullback.

The loss leaves Ohio with a big hole to fill. Robbie Shaw can fill in at fly-half, like he did on Sunday. That move is more possible with the potential return of Shaun Davies at scrumhalf. Roland Suniula can also fill in at fly-half, a position he played at the 2011 World Cup. The league is expected to sign some new players that could also help the situation but those signings were coming before Eloff broke his leg.

  1. Sad, and he was doing so well.

  2. what about Taylor Howden? He hasn't even been on the 23 as of late, what happened to him?
