DI Recap & Playoff Update

The quarterfinals are nearly set in the DI playoff. Only two spots remained to be filled while Life West, Dallas, Austin, Metropolis, Mystic River, and Old Blue have booked their places.

Metropolis have emerged as the winner from the Midwest after beating the Chicago Griffins 29-27. The Griffins had surprised regular season champion the Chicago Lions to reach the final while Metropolis beat the Kansas City Blues.

Metropolis struck first through Ekapatelisio Veamatahau that was converted by Nate Osborne. Veamatahau added a second one ten minutes later. Pete Smith finally got the Griffins on the board with a penalty before Josefa Kafatolu added a try. That cut the deficit to 14-8. Metropolis would extend their lead once again with a David McGill try. At the half Metropolis led 19-8.

Joel Yogerst, who is in fine form, added another try for Metropolis. The Griffins were able to score a late try from Corey Quaglia but it was too little too late.

The Red River finished their season a few weeks back. Dallas and Austin will square off in the quarterfinals later in the month.

Pacific South

The Pacific South is down to OMBAC and the Old Aztecs this weekend. The winner will play the Life West Gladiators.

Pacific North

The Life West Gladiators took home the Pacific North title with a 27-15 win over ORSU in Seattle over the weekend.

Atlantic North/Mid-Atlantic

The Atlantic North finished a couple of weeks ago. Mystic River will play Metropolis in the quarterfinals. Old Blue will play the winner from Mid-Atlantic. That will either be Rocky Gorge or Norfolk. Rocky Gorge continued their strong play with a 66-7 win over the Baltimore-Chesapeake Brumbies. Norfolk had a tighter match but they still beat the Schuylkill River Exiles 39-27. Rocky Gorge and Norfolk play on Saturday for a spot in the finals.
