Club Championship Finals Set

Men's DI

The Austin Blacks are back in the national championship and will play Mystic River in the final. The Blacks beat the Lift West Gladiators 30-17 while Mystic River outlasted Old Blue 10-5. Austin ran out to a 13-0 lead after ten minutes but then increased that to 23-0 at halftime. Each team traded scores in the first ten minutes of the second half before Life West scored the last two tries.

Mystic River and Old Blue played to a classic hard fought encounter in the mud in Pittsburgh. Alatasi Tupou put Mystic River up first with a penalty. They then increased their lead to 10-0 when Evin O'Driscoll finished off a great team move. In the second half there was a lot of back and forth. Tupou missed a penalty and then Old Blue was able to score. Old Blue kept pushing for the equalizing or final try but they couldn't push it in. Mystic River are back in the national championship for the first time since 1992.

Women's DI

The Seattle Saracens will return to defend their national championship after beating the Denver Black Ice 32-14. They will play Chicago North Shore after they beat the Raleigh Venom 24-15. Seattle ran out to a 27-0 lead at halftime but a try from Denver put them back in the match into the second. Still, each team could only manage one more try and Seattle managed the game well.

In the East final North Shore wen tup 7-0 before Raleigh scored twice to take a 10-7 lead. That's when North Shore scored two straight tries of their own to retake the lead. Raleigh would add a try but a penalty from North Shore sealed the match.

Men's DII

The Tempe Old Devils are another team headed back to the national championship although they weren't there last year. The Old Devils have been one of the best DII teams in the country for a number of years and will now play the Detroit Tradesmen in the final at Infinity Park. The Old Devils were there to pounce on every opportunity as they beat the Provo Steelers 27-6.

The Tradesmen have been on a roll this year but they needed extra time to beat the Village Lions. The lead see-sawed throughout. With only four minutes to go the Lions held a 31-26 lead but then Detroit drove down the pitch to tie up the match. They could have won it but their conversion was off. In extra time Detroit had more in the tank to pile in four scores.

Women's DII

Wisconsin make it three teams returning to the national title game from last year thanks to their 31-17 win over the Harrisburg Harlots. They will play the Life West Gladiators who beat Houston Athletic 97-8.

Men's DIII

Two new teams will be in the DIII finals. The Faifield Yankees defeated the Bremer County Bucks 45-20. On the other side of the bracket the Euless Texans defeated Napa Valley Rugby 31-22.
