Women's Super Series Headed To Salt Lake

The Women's Super Series, featuring the Eagles, Canada, France, and England, is headed to Salt Lake City this July according to a release from the Rugby Football Union. The tournament is the premier tournament for the Women Eagles every year and with the World Cup just over a year away this will be one of their last major opportunities to take on tough competition before the tournament. The competition was held in Calgary last year and like last year double-headers are expected.

This year's tournament will have matches on July 1st, 5th, and 9th in Salt Lake City at a location to be determined. However, it's very unlikely that all of the matches will be held at Rio Tinto Stadium with MLS side Real Salt Lake having home matches on the 1st and the 9th and USL side Real Monarchs playing on July 2nd. It's unclear where the tournament will be played but there are now several small stadiums in the region, including South Field on the campus of BYU (although that's in Provo) and a new soccer complex north of the city that has a stadium that seats several thousand fans.

Due to the timing of the tournament it's possible that members of the U.S. 7s team will be unavailable  as they have the Olympics in the next month. Last year most of the 7s players similarly missed out on the tournament.
