Western Oregon Looking For New Coaching Staff


Western Oregon University is looking for a new coaching staff for the upcoming season. The school is located in Monmouth, Oregon, just outside of Salem and roughly an hour south of Portland. It's a great school that is supportive of their program. Their is also a very healthy youth rugby scene in Oregon and growing. This would be a great opportunity for a coach looking to start out with their own team.

Job Title: Head Coach - Men’s 7s and 15s

Department: Campus Recreation

Location: Monmouth, OR (Western Oregon University)

Supervisor: Team President (TBD), Benjamin Prahl, Assistant Director of Campus Recreation

The Men’s Rugby program (a sponsored student organization at Western Oregon University) is seeking a highly motivated Head Coach who can provide on and off the field guidance for the team. The candidate should possess strong leadership and organizational skills as well as proven rugby knowledge and coaching experience.

Main Role Description – WOU D1AA Head Coach

Start Date – September 1st, 2016 (Negotiable)
  • Responsible for guiding the WOU D1AA side through the 2016-2017 season including 7s and 15s non-conference and conference play from September until May 
  • Develop and Implement pre-planned training sessions and conditioning sessions 
  • Detailed analysis and break down of key areas of the game via in person and video analysis 
  • Off Field Management – Timely interaction with D1AA squad concerning roster selection, travel operations, and assist Team Executive Board with scheduling and budget 
  • Represent WOU at all local and regional union executive meetings including NCRC AGM, NCRC 7s Championships, and NCRC 15s Championship Final. 
  • The Head Coach will work very closely with the Team Student Executive Board, Assistant Campus Recreation Director (Ben Prahl), Director of Campus Recreation (Rip Horsey), and WOR Alumni President (Josh Rol) 
  • Oversee administration of strength and conditioning program for team members including management of assistant coaches in both 7s and 15s units 
Compensation
  • Negotiable Monthly Stipend 
  • Season Travel + Lodging Package
