Men's DIII Playoff Update

A couple of days ago we examined the outlook for the men's DI playoffs and yesterday we took a look at DII. Now it's time to take a quick look at where DIII stands.  For clarity sake we've combined each region that will play each other in the quarterfinals on May 21st.

Pacific North/Pacific South

The 43rd State Crimson Lions from Boise, the winner from the Pacific Northwest had a bye in the Round of 32. They will next play Napa Valley in the Round of 16. Napa Valley beat Colusa County 27-10. In the Pacific South the Northern Arizona Landsharks beat Phoenix 75-5 to move to the next round. They will play either the Orange County Ravens or the Beaumont Bluehawks.

Frontier/Red River

The Frontier playoffs are nearly set. The Wichita Barbarians, last year's champions, will play the St. Louis Royals. The Columbia Outlaws are in the playoff and will play either the Denver Highlanders or the Queen City Rams. The Red River is still up in the air but the Euless Texans and HURT will both be there after unbeaten seasons.

Midwest/South

The teams in the Midwest are nearly set. In the Chicago-Wisconsin division Milwaukee or the Fox Valley Maoris will play either the Bremer County Bucks or the Milwaukee Barbarians. In the South it will be the Savannah Shamrocks against the Montgomery Yellowhammers and Sarasota against Southern Pines. The Shamrocks won the Georgia division, the Yellowhammers the True South, Sarasota in Florida, and Southern Pines in the Carolinas.

Atlantic North/Mid-Atlantic

The Atlantic North will see some old favorites make the playoffs. MIT Rugby is set to play Old Gold while the Rockaway Fisheads will play the Fairfield Yankees. In the Mid-Atlantic the seedings are still up in their either. Either Reading or Blacksburg will play one of Schuylkill River/Newport News in one part of the region. In the other part it will either be the Renegades or South Jersey against Virginia Beach/Rocky Gorge.
