Eagles Abroad: Weekend Review

Eagles Abroad is brought to you by Grubber, makers of fine sporting apparel.

The number of capped Americans or U.S.-eligible players in Super Rugby has grown to four. Andrew Durutalo become only the second capped American to play Super Rugby--following in Todd Clever's footsteps--earlier in the year and ran out to his fifth straight start for the Sunwolves. Now James Hilterbrand has joined the list after playing in the second half of the Waratahs loss to the Rebels. He did previously play Super Rugby with the Western Force but wasn't capped at the time. Other U.S.-eligible players in the competition include Marcel Brache at Western Force and Toni Pulu with the Chiefs. Pulu scored a try for his team over the weekend. It should be said that he could only play for the U.S. if he goes down the 7s loophole.

Elsewhere, Titi Lamositele was the only American to play in the Premiership over the weekend. The options were also few in the Pro12 with some players sitting out. Down in France, Taku Ngwenya was involved again while in Ireland Tim Maupin scored a try.
