DI Recap: Midwest Gets Underway

Due to the Easter holiday it was a bit quieter for DI clubs around the country. That said, there was still some that were active. We take a look.


The Mid-Atlantic had two matches schedule over the weekend. Leaders Rocky Gorge maintained their perfect record with a 44-0 win over the Baltimore-Chesapeake Brumbies, their closest geographic rival. Junior All-American Ben Cima was once again a standout with several penalties and conversions. Rocky Gorge are now 9-0 on the season and deservedly 13 points ahead of Schuylkill River. It's still early but Rocky Gorge could be a favorite to make the DI final from the East Coast.

The other the match in the division saw the Pittsburgh Harlequins beat the Potomac Exiles 48-29 in Gaithersburg, Maryland. The match was a 26-19 in favor of the Harlequins in the 50th minute before they were able to pull away.

The Midwest got their spring play underway with a trio of matches. The Chicago Lions are currently in the top spot with a perfect 10-0 record after they beat the Cincinnati Wolfhounds 48-17. The Lions hold a three point advantage over Metropolis who were idle. The Lions had a match in hand over Metropolis throughout the winter.

Nipping on Metropolis for second position but still nine points back is the Kansas City Blues. They opened up their spring season by beating Columbus 34-26. Kenny Scott led the way for the Blues with four tries. Finally, the Chicago Griffins beat Milwaukee 59-13.

Atlantic North 

The Atlantic North had the weekend off but Old Blue beat Hartford 109-0 in a friendly.

Red River

The Red River Conference also took the weekend off.

Pacific South

The Pacific South was off as well.

Pacific North

The Pacific North was idle. When they come back they have two weekend before the playoffs.
