College Top Ten: The Playoffs Loom

Some lopsided wins and the Easter holiday giving some teams a break means that there aren't any changes in this week's Top Ten. However, that is going to change this week with some very big match-ups on the horizon.

1. BYU (Last Week: 1; beat Utah Valley 25-7, beat San Diego State 71-0): Another week and another two wins for the Cougars. Is it possible for a top ranked team to fly under the radar? Because BYU has been so dominant this year and the last few years there hasn't been much discussion about how strong they are. That should change. Up next: Utah

2. Life (LW: 2; Bye): Life had the weekend off to celebrate their recently Mid-South title. They will take on Davenport this weekend in what is their final preparation before the DI-A playoffs. Up next: Davenport

3. Cal (LW: 3; beat Utah 46-19, beat Stanford 121-5): Cal captured yet another PAC Rugby title with their win over Utah. They then followed that up with a big win over Stanford. If you take their setbacks against UBC out of the picture they have had another good season. Up next: Bye

4. St. Mary's (LW: 4; Tour of New Zealand): The Gaels have been on a tour of New Zealand looking to gain momentum ahead of the playoffs. Up next: Santa Clara

5. Lindenwood (LW: 5; Bye): The Lions had the weekend off. They will close out their Mid-South season against Davenport in two weeks. If there is a team that can break the DI-A final duopoly of Life and St. Mary's it's likely the Lions. Up next: Bye

6. Central Washington (LW: 6; lost to UVic 27-22): The Wildcats got possibly the best competition they could get outside of UBC in their neighborhood by playing UVic. They are a strong side and Central Washington going toe-to-toe is a good sign. We're still believers that Central Washington could be a dark horse in the Varsity Cup. Up next: Bye

7. Indiana (LW: 7; beat Western Michigan 68-10): The Hoosiers continue to pick up wins over lesser competition. Getting run outs is nice but they need more matches like their Penn State match. Up next: Bye

8. UCLA (LW: 8; Bye): UCLA have had some time off since their win over Utah. Their next match is in the Varsity Cup where they visit Central Washington. Up next: Bye

9. Utah (LW: 9; Lost to Cal 46-19): The Utes are competing against the top teams but they still are looking for something to take them to the next level. Up next: BYU

10. AIC (LW: 10; Bye): AIC continue to play 7s and will head to the Empire Invitational this weekend. Up next: Empire Invitational
