Vegas 7s: Eagles Lose To South Africa, Still Make Cup Quarterfinals

Thanks to Canada's loss to Wales in the previous match the Eagles were already through to the Cup quarterfinals heading into their final pool play match against South Africa. Still, with the top spot on the line the team will be upset with their 29-0 loss to the Blitzbokke. Even more, the U.S. suffered a couple of knocks in the match adding to their already depleted roster. They will now play Kenya in the Cup quarterfinal at 8:31 p.m. et/5:31 p.m. pt.

Against a team like South Africa you can't afford to make mistakes and that's exactly what the Eagles did on numerous occasion. Chris Dry was the first to score after South Africa ripped the ball away from the Eagles. Then it was patient play that saw Seabelo Senatla score in the corner to give South Africa a 12-0 halftime lead.

In the second half the onslaught with simple stuff seeing Senatla scoring again along with Dylan Sage and Cecil Afrika. The half also saw Will Holder and Perry Baker shaken up. However, they look like they should be ready to go the rest of the tournament.

Starters: Baker, Hughes, Bender, Iosefo, Niua, Barrett, Test
