Rumor: MacGinty Headed To Sale (Updated)

UPDATE: Sale coach Steve Diamond has confirmed MacGinty signing for next year.

It looks like it's going to be a one and done situation for AJ MacGinty at Connacht. The Eagles fly-half signed with the team after the World Cup and has gone on to make 13 appearances over all competitions. With the injuries to other players like Jack Carty, MacGinty has started the last five matches helping Connacht to the top of the Pro12 table. Now it looks like he could be headed to Sale next year.

An injury to MacGinty's shoulder has him out for a month and Connacht short on fly-halfs. The team has signed Marnitz Boshoff for next season but in the short-term Canadian U-20 player Sean O'Leary will have to man the helm. MacGinty's absence is already being talked about as a problem for next year as it appears he is headed to Sale. With Connacht signing Boshoff it's increasingly less like MacGinty will be back at Connacht, mainly due to what would be a lack of playing time. A move to Sale, where Danny Cipriani is leaving, could open up more playing time for MacGinty.
