Former All Black Mackintosh Signs With Ohio

PRO Rugby has added one of their biggest names yet with former All Blacks prop Jamie Mackintosh set to suit up for Ohio next season. The league hasn't officially announced Mackintosh but sent out this tweet earlier today:
Mackintosh has most recently been playing with Montpellier as injury cover.  Prior to that he earned over 100 caps playing for Southland in the ITM Cup cup and then over a half a century of caps for the Highlanders from 2007-13 before playing for the Chiefs in 2014-15. He was capped by the All Blacks once against Scotland back in 2008.

He adds another player with plenty of experience, especially as a front-row player. One of the things it was hoped PRO Rugby would accomplish would be to improve the level of scrummaging for top domestic players and having Mackintosh in the competition is going to do just that.

  1. I'm interested to see the standard of play once the league season gets going. Not so much the first few weeks, but they latter half of the season. It should hopefully be a step up from the PRP/ARP and top college teams. Maybe on par with lower level French and Italian Leagues?
