Barkwill Latest Canadian To Join PRO Rugby

PRO Rugby has confirmed another player long-rumored to be headed to the competition. Canadian hooker Ray Barkwill will make the trip south to play with Sacramento this upcoming season. Barkwill was a member of Canada's World Cup team and has nearly 30 caps to his name. Over the last few years he has been the number one choice at hooker for Canada. He has been playing for Castaway-Wanderers in the BC Premier League and has played provincial rugby with the Ontario Blues. He's also had the chance to train with the Western Force in the past.

PRO Rugby is pleased to announce the signing of Ray Barkwill to play for Sacramento in the inaugural 2016 PRO Rugby season. Born in Niagara Falls, Ontario, Barkwill rose to prominence with Canadian provincial side the Ontario Blues before moving to Australia where he had a stint with Super Rugby’s Western Force. Barkwill is a specialist hooker known for his work-rate and dedication. Ray has represented Canada thirty times in international play, most recently as skipper.
