Women Eagles 7s Named For Brazil

The Women Eagles 7s have been selected for the upcoming Brazil 7s, the second stop on the Women's World Sevens Series. The core of the team once again returns to Jules McCoy's side with Kelly Griffin, Alev Kelter, and Kristen Thomas all on the side. Coming back into the team is Bui Baravilala and Nana Fa'avesi along with players like Ryan Carlyle Jessica Javelet, Megan Bonny, and Jillion Potter. Making their debuts for the team will be Ashley Perry, Rachel Griendling, and Naya Tapper.  Lauren Doyle and Richelle Stephens continue to be out with an injury.

"We are trying to build depth in our pool by adding some new caps," said McCoy in a U.S.A. Rugby press release. "We are moving players around some to assess their versatility under pressure in case of future injury, preparing for the best and the worst situations going forward."

"We have made progress but won't be satisfied until our outcomes improve. The players are more comfortable in the new systems, but now they look to personalize the approach by making the new schemes their own. Our team identity, in the end, will be created by the players themselves. I'm excited to see what they come up with."

The tournament starts on February 20th with the U.S. taking on New Zealand, Russia, and Spain.
