Opening Kick

National Teams/PRO Rugby:

It was a thrilling start to 2016 for the Eagles as they drew with Argentina 35-35 in a very entertaining match.

If you missed the match you can get caught up with highlights as well as our match commentary.

Commentator Dallen Stanford caught up with Taku Ngwenya and Chad London after the match.

Down in Sydney it was another mixed weekend for the Eagles. They finished in the Plate semi-finals after a very disappointing loss to Kenya and a loss to New Zealand on day two.

On day one the U.S. beat Wales handily and they got by Japan before losing to England.

The pools have been drawn for Vegas with Canada, South Africa, and Wales paired with the U.S. in pool D.

In case you missed it, the Eagles will be playing the Maori All Blacks next November.

In PRO Rugby news Kevin Battle has been named an assistant coach in Sacramento.

Club/College:

Moving over the PRP play, a late intercept try gave Belmont Shore a win over Olympic Club.

SFGG moved to 2-0 with a win over Santa Monica while Glendale's win over OMBAC also kept their record perfect.

Cal lost to UBC in the first leg of the World Cup. We'll have a recap in just a few hours.

Santa Clara's Jack O'Hara is the DI-A Player of the Week.

Jackie Finlan has articles on UNC, FIUFt. Miami over Orlando, and the Pacific South.

Similarly, Alex Goff writes about the Red River, Pac WestGold CoastNCRC, PAC Rugby, and Lindenwood over Arizona.

The Horny Toads Rugby Football Club is getting attention from the local news.

Canada:

It was a busy weekend for Canadian teams as well. Patrick Johnston has a recap of the Bowl win in Sydney and the win over Uruguay in the ARC.

World:

The opening weekend of the Six Nations was thrilling as always. England beat Scotland, France survived Italy, and Ireland and Wales played to a draw.

Quade Cooper is hoping to make an appearance at the Vegas 7s.
