Matt Hawkins Named San Diego Assistant

PRO Rugby has named another assistant coach. This time it's former Eagles 7s coach Matt Hawkins who will be an assistant to Ray Egan in San Deigo. Hawkins is most widely known for his 7s career where he was head coach of the Eagles 7s for one year and was a leader as a player for years, holding many records until Zack Test took over most of those records. Hawkins is based in San Diego and is well connected to the San Diego youth rugby scene.

Here is the announcement from PRO Rugby:
PRO Rugby is pleased to announce the appointment of Matt Hawkins as Assistant Coach for the San Diego team in PRO Rugby’s 2016 inaugural season. Matt’s rugby career in the US started with playing stints for OMBAC and the SoCal Griffins before representing the USA at both 15s and 7s, where he was an exceptional player and captain for several years. He has been Head Coach for both the USA 7s Men’s National team and San Diego State University. Hawkins has also been a member of the USA Rugby Board and most recently has dedicated considerable time to youth and high school programs in the San Diego area.
