Latest Injury Sidelines Manoa

The injury bug has caught up with Samu Manoa this year. Earlier in the season he suffered an injury that kept him out roughly a month and last weekend he picked up another knock, this time on his knee, while playing for Toulon against the Sharks in a friendly. Manoa is set to have surgery on his knee and will be out for at least three months. For those keeping track at home, that puts his return near the very end of the Top 14 season. Depending on his recovery he may or may not make it back in time for the Top 14 playoffs.

Additionally, the injury could make him a question mark for the Eagles summer matches against Italy, Russia, and likely another Tier I opponent. He's an established part of the team and with the World Cup cycle in it's infancy there is still time to bring him back into the team if he misses the summer in recovery. Still, he presence would be missed against those top tier opponents.

  1. This really sucks for him. He was generally healthy when playing for Northampton. Ive heard concerns about player welfare in France/Top 14 raised before. While players make much more money in France the facilities and support structures seem to suffer. Hoping for a speedy recovery for Samu!

  2. Bummer. He's a force to be reckoned with any time he's on the pitch...
