Junior All-Americans Learn JWRT Draw

After a year absence the Junior All-Americans are back in the Junior World Rugby Trophy thanks to their dramatic win over Canada earlier in the month. Although not officially announced by World Rugby tournament organizers have said that the U.S. have been drawn into Group B with Hong Kong, Namibia, and Spain. Pool A will have Samoa, Uruguay, Fiji, and hosts Zimbabwe.

It's a great draw for the Junior All-Americans and one that they should be able to top. Namibia will likely be the most difficult team playing so close to home. Hong Kong and Spain won't be pushovers but if the U.S. is able to draw on a larger group of players they should be heavily favored in those matches. Pool A on the other hand is stacked with Samoa and Fiji the favorites. If the U.S. makes the final they will likely have to play one or the other but in 80 minutes anything can happen.

The tournament goes from April 19th to May 1st and will be played at the Harare Sports Club and the national stadium.

Pool A: Samoa, Fiji, Uruguay, Zimbabwe
Pool B: Hong Kong, Namibia, U.S.A., Spain

  1. Uruguay might surprise. Their U20 squad just beat Georgia, who won the JWRT last year. We need to get a few more matches in. We should play Life's ARP side and another high level program like Cal or BYU.
