Denver Lands Final PRO Rugby Team

The fifth and final team for the inaugural PRO Rugby season has been announced. Denver, which has been long-tied with gaining a franchise will indeed be in the first season with the team set to play out of Infinity Park. As the country's only rugby specific facility it checks a lot of boxes for PRO Rugby.

Denver is an ideal location for a side. Not only does it have a number of quality players and coaches to choose from in the area but it also has a number of youth sides to help pack the seats. One of the key drivers for PRO Rugby in the first year is going to be getting fans into the gate. Like with other minor league sports, it's highly likely that PRO Rugby will need group sales from youth teams and organizations. That puts Sacramento, San Francisco, San Diego, and Denver in solid locations.

The coaching staff is expected to be announced at a later date. Take the jump for the official announcement.

PRO Rugby is pleased to announce that Denver will be the fifth team competing in our inaugural season. We are excited to play matches and train at Infinity Park Stadium in the City of Glendale. We wish to thank all our friends in the City of Glendale for the help and support they gave us in bringing a professional rugby team to Denver.
With this announcement PRO Rugby completes the league roster for our inaugural season. We are proud and thankful to start our introduction of professional rugby to the USA in these five markets. We are looking forward to increasing the number of teams in our second season so we can start including more cities into our growing league. A final league schedule, team rosters, and game day tv distributution will be announced shortly.

  1. What happened to Philadelphia?! Sad day!

  2. Boulder, CO is the headquarters of USA rugby, so it only makes sense.

  3. Does DC have a field that meets World Rugby's field regulations and seats 3000-10,000 people? If so, they could be a potential expansion site. Lots of talent in that area.
