Andrew Suniula Called Up To ARC Squad; More PRO Rugby Signings

Injuries have hit the Eagles hard over the last three weeks. Things are especially thin at center with Moto Filikitonga and Mike Garrity going down with injury. Lorenzo Thomas was called up from the U-20s as a replacement and did quite well but the group is still thin. Well, there is going to be some relief in that department as Andrew Suniula has been called up to the team as they take off for South America. The veterans of two World Cups with 38 caps to his name will add a solid veteran presence to the line-up.

The team will lose Todd Clever and Eric Fry who are returning to Newcastle as well as Nic Edwards who broke his leg against Chile. Already scheduled replacements are on their way with Hanco Germishuys, Aladdin Schirmer, and Tim Stanfill coming into the team. Cam Falcon and Ryan Matyas were also supposed to arrive only for the South American tour but came on early. No word yet on other players with injuries, including Chris Baumann and Tom Bliss.

Santa Rosa Players Offered PRO Rugby Contracts

News continues to trickle in of players being offered PRO Rugby contracts. So far we've learned that Tom Bliss has been extended an offer but it's unclear for which team. Colin Hawley has been given an offer to join San Francisco while Matt Hughston has been given the same for Ohio. Now word has come through that lock Robert Meeson and hooker Josh Inong from Santa Rosa have been offered contracts for Sacramento. More and more contracts are expected to be shared publicly in the coming days.

A note should be passed along that even though players are offered contracts that doesn't mean they will take them. Some players may be asked to move, something they don't want to do. Others may just decide it's not for them. Still, the vast majority of players offered a contract will likely take it.

If you know of someone that has been offered a PRO Rugby contract, let us know at thisisamericanrugby@gmail.com.
