TIAR Awards, Eagles 7s Player of the Year: Madison Hughes

It was tough picking this year's Eagles 7s Player of the Year. Every single player on the team has been a key part of their success. Zack Test leads on and off the pitch with a relentless work rate (he's the chasedown king), Andrew Durutalo was one of the best player at the breakdown on the Series (the breakdown king), while Perry Baker and Carlin Isles continually turned matches on their head with their speed (the speed kings). Then there are players like Danny Barrett, Maka Unufe, and Folau Niua. Still, for one of us there is a player that stood out for several reasons: Madison Hughes.

Despite being the youngest player on the team Hughes was named captain heading into last season and he performed well. Hughes is a natural born leader who gains the respect of teammates and the opposition. It's more than his leadership, however. On the pitch he consistently is near the top of the charts on tackles made. His kicking is very underrated. All you have to do is look back to Dubai to see how important his kick is, pushing the Eagles to the quarterfinals. On offense he sees things that others can't see and he makes spot on passes. That's exactly what you want out of a player and from our Eagles 7s Player of the Year.

All TIAR Awards are brought to you by Canterbury USA. For all your team gear as well as replica jerseys make sure to check them out.  #CommittedToTheGame
