Opening Kick

Opening Kick is a segment devoted to bringing you all Eagles and U.S.A. Rugby news in one location. It is brought to you everyday by Rugby Marketplace, your independent rugby store

National Teams/PRO Rugby:

PRO Rugby has announced their second combine. This time they are headed to the Bay Area. They also interviewed the first 40 players for contracts.

Robbie Shaw has moved on from missing the World Cup and hasn't closed the door on playing in the United States.

It's an extreme long-shot but former England U-18 captain Sam Underhill is U.S.-eligible.

Along those same lines it was a mixed weekend for Americans overseas.

Take the jump to read more.

Club/College:

U.S.A. Rugby is hiring a National Championship Series Administrator.

Dartmouth coach Gavin Hickie was recently on a podcast talking about rugby in America.

Several teams in the California Conference picked up wins last weekend while some lost.

St. Mary's was one of the teams that lost (they played SFGG) but they still learned some lessons.

The ARPTC is set to host a high performance camp this month.

World:

To make things really interesting on the World Sevens Series Australia have signed Nick Cummins.

Rugby Scotland have joined forces with London Scottish and have sent some coaching help.

JP Pietersen will be joining Leicester next season.  Also, Harry Sloan has re-signed with Harlequins.

Ma'a Nonu, Tom Taylor, and Quade Cooper haven't exactly impressed their new owner.
