TIAR Awards, Women's Club of the Year: Seattle Saracens & Glendale Raptors

Photo: Travis Prior
This is the first time we are going to cheat this year and by cheat we mean name two clubs. For us, it was hard to just pick one women's club to single out. There were a lot of teams that deserved mention, including the Stars, the Twin Cities Amazons, and Beantown, however, it came down to only two in our estimation: the Seattle Saracens and the Glendale Raptors.

As we mentioned when naming Kelsi Stockert our Women's Club Player of the Year, it's can be easy to overlook Seattle given that they play in the BC competitions. That said, they've had a lot of success in the BC Premier League with a 3-0 record so far this year and a 5-0 record in the Mainland Elite league. They have a squad of burgeoning players who have or who are starting to make their impact on the Eagles. Even more, Seattle stormed their way to the DI final last spring easily beating their opponents on the way to beating Beantown in the final.

The Glendale Raptors also have the claim to being the best team in the land. They didn't have the best record in the WPL, that went to the Twin Cities Amazons who had a 5-0-1 record to the Raptors 5-1-0 record. However, they did top the tough Blue Conference. The Raptors then beat New York in the semi-finals before beating the All Blues for the WPL title. Like Seattle, the Raptors are loaded with national team players.

What's great about both teams is that they have surrounded themselves with good infrastructure. Not only is it paying off on the pitch but off the pitch as well. You can expect with good coaching and success on the pitch that they are going to be able to recruit even more players.

All TIAR Awards are brought to you by Canterbury USA. For all your team gear as well as replica jerseys make sure to check them out.  #CommittedToTheGame
