Eagles Abroad: Weekend Preview

Eagles Abroad is brought to you by Grubber, makers of fine sporting apparel.

Americans in Europe will take to continental competition this weekend as the European Champions Cup and Challenge Cup kick off. Most Americans are getting a rest (for example, none of the Americans at Newcastle are listed on the team's European roster) but there are some that will make an impact. AJ MacGinty will get his first start for Connacht as they head to Siberia to play Russian entry RC Enisei. That match is supposed to be played under sub-freezing temperatures. Also in Europe, Samu Manoa will start for Toulon and Chris Wyles will start for Saracens.

Elsewhere, Thretton Palamo will get another start for London Welsh while Taku Ngwenya already picked up a try for Biarritz. He's off to a very hot start this season. Additionally, a few player notes to pass along. U.S.-eligible prop Gagi Bazadze is with La Rochelle, Anthony Estrella isn't listed for Toshiba Fuchu Brave Lupus in this year's Top League, and Tai Tuisamoa is back in the States working for NASA. Both Estrella and Tuisamoa have been removed from the listings.
