Denver Name Side For Halloween 7s

The Denver 7s have named a strong side to play at the Halloween 7s later in the month. Highlighting the roster include emerging star Kevon Williams, Gannon Moore from the Kansas City Blues, and Denver Barbarians stalwarts Max de Achaval, Bobby Impson, and Logan Collins. Once again the team will blend players from the Heartland. Denver won the Serevi RugbyTown 7s earlier in the summer and as a result garnered the invitation to the Halloween 7s and the Coral Coast 7s in Fiji in January 2016.

Martin Iosefo, who played with the Barbarians during the summer and recently moved to the OTC full time, will play with the either the Falcons or the Hawks at the tournament. Ben Pinkelman, who also played with the Barbarians and has come into his own as a 7s player, will also play with either the Falcons or the Hawks.

Press Release from the Organization:

*  The Denver 7s All Stars were branded by USA Rugby as a City based team and are tasked with finding and developing players from the western part of the US (Frontier Comp Region and near-by: Colorado, Wyoming, Kansas, Nebraska, Missouri and South Dakota plus New Mexico & Oklahoma).

USA Rugby established the Olympic Development 7s Academy (ODA) model in late 2012 and the Elite City 7s team model in early 2014.  These teams essentially provide similar opportunities for players to develop and play at a lever higher than the club/college team model and prepare them for entry into the National team and International competition.  The Players are meant to be kept in an active training and playing environment of up to 10 months per year.  Although this is Elite and 7s focused there is a net benefit the 15s and 7s Club programs that the players are members of.

The Denver Rugby 7s All Stars will continue to pursue opportunities to prepare players to play at the Elite and Developmental levels.
