Old Blue Ready To Face Wolfhounds

Press Release

Old Blue open their 2015 ARP campaign under Head Coach Marty Veale and new Captain, openside Alex Schwarz, with an evening kick off against the Boston Irish Wolfhounds at Baker Field in New York. Four new faces include the hard-charging Ryan Blythe at #8, a Collegiate All-American who is a New jersey native, and Rick Kirkland on the wing. Kirkland has become an extremely effective finisher on the summer 7’s circuit with both Old Blue and the Northeast Academy. “JJ” Corpuz-Jackson, formerly of AIC, starts at center and the final debutant is former USA Eagles 7’s cap Ryan Matyas, who after spending time in New Zealand will be getting a run at full-back.

In addition, another Eagles cap, Luke Hume, will be making his comeback after a long injury layoff in the scrum-half slot, partnering the prolific James Bird. “We are looking forward to seeing how the new guys go and putting in a performance against the Hounds. We know how tenacious our friends from the north can be but intend to get the season started with a W”, said Old Blue Director of Rugby Steve Lewis.
