Eagles Change One For Scotland Clash

As expected the Eagles have not made major changes to their line-up as they get ready to play Scotland. The only change on the starting roster is Phil Thiel coming in for Zach Fenoglio at hooker. On the bench the only change has John Quill coming in as an extra forward and Brett Thompson missing out. Two players do change position with Blaine Scully moving back to wing and Chris Wyles back to fullback. With a week between their last match against Samoa, having targeted Scotland for a long time, and having a healthy team there was no reason for the Eagles to switch up dramatically their best line-up.

Forwards: Eric Fry, Phil Thiel, Titi Lamositele, Hayden Smith, Greg Peterson, Al McFarland, Andrew Durutalo, Samu Manoa

Backs: Mike Petri, AJ MacGinty, Blaine Scully, Thretton Palamo, Seamus Kelly, Taku Ngwenya, Chris Wyles

Bench: Zach Fenoglio, Ollie Kilifi, Chris Baumann, Cam Dolan, John Quill, Danny Barrett, Shalom Suniula, Folau Niua

  1. I don't understand this switch with Wyles and Scully, I'd love to know what is behind it.

I personally favour Scully at 15 - he's better in the air.

  2. The better lineup is Wyles at 15 because he's better at inserting, offensive decision making, and running support lines. Scully is better on the wing at dealing with the bad ball the wings usually get, and fronting up on defense.

I'd like to see Barrett get more minutes. While undersized and probably exhausted from all the time he's been putting in between 7s and RWC prep, he makes a nuisance of himself and he's hard. He brings a no backing down attitude. He and Durutalo are super quick to poach when on a tackle due to the 7s experience. They are up on their feet faster than any of the 15s only guys.
