Greg Peterson Signs With Glasgow

Another American is on the move as Greg Peterson has signed a two year deal with the Glasgow Warriors. Peterson spent most of this last year with Leicester. He didn't see a ton of time with the team making two appearances in the LV= Cup (one start) and one appearance off the bench in the Premiership for a total of 94 minutes. Prior to that he was captain and stalwart of the North Harbour Rays in the National Rugby Championship in Australia. Peterson made his debut for the U.S. last November and played well in his few matches. With Blaine Scully leaving for Cardiff next year there won't be any Americans at Leicester next year barring a signing.

According to the press release from the Glasgow Warriors head coach Gregor Townsend said of Peterson, "Greg has picked up some great experience already in his rugby career and played well for the USA in the November Tests. He is determined to make the most of his opportunity with us. He has a real physical presence and hits hard in the tackle. He will give us something different and add to the competition for places in the second-row.”

What do you think of the move? Good for Peterson? The Eagles?

  1. Huge news! 2 year contract means he has time to grow there and get some great experience. Only good news for him and the Eagles. Good luck!

  2. Anytime a capped Eagle gets a multiyear deal it's a good thing. As our number of professionals continues to increase, it won't be too long before we start seeing Eagles rosters with professionals from 1-23.
