Canada Corner: Ilnicki Heads Down Under, CRC Heats Up

Ilnicki Joins NSW Country Eagles

Young prop Jake Ilnicki will get a chance to get in some very solid experience ahead of the Canada's November tour after joining the New South Wales Country Eagles in the National Rugby Championship. Ilnicki was given the opportunity to head down under after one of the Country Eagles props went down with an injury. Ilnicki made his senior debut for Canada against the Maori All Blacks last year and is taking a larger role with the team. The Country Eagles are 2-0 so far on the season and have six matches remaining plus the playoffs if they make it that far.

CRC Title On The Line

Four matches are scheduled for the CRC this weekend. The highlight of the docket is easily the Blues against the Wolf Pack at Ellerlsie Rugby Park. The Wolf Pack have nine points thanks to their two wins over the BC Bears while the Blues have four points after they beat the Rock. A win by the Wolf Pack would give them a great cushion and a perfect record through three matches. If they follow it up with a win over the Rock on Sunday at Calgary Rugby Park it will give them a very clear path to the title. For the Blues it doesn't get any easier as they have to play the Bears on Sunday. The Rock play the Bears at Klahanie Park on Thursday.
