Seattle Chosen To Host National Club 7s

It's a move that's been anticipated for awhile but U.S.A. Rugby announced today that Seattle will host this year's National Club 7s at the Starfire Sports Complex on August 9-10. The event will be hosted by the Seattle Saracens. The Starfire Sports Complex as a 4,500 seat stadium that will be used for most of the matches. The surface is artificial turf that is used by the Seattle Sounders as their training complex and location for reserve matches. Tickets are available for the tournament and it will be streamed on USA Rugby TV.

The choice of Seattle comes with benefits and obstacles. Seattle has a growing rugby community--there will be a youth jamboree and high school invitational alongside the tournament--and this is seen as a test for potentially landing an Eagles match in the future. However, the location will make it difficult for teams on the East Coast to afford the trip. Teams that win their respective regions will have to buy tickets on short notice and with costs higher to get to Seattle (from some areas) it's not out of the question a few teams may drop out at the last minute.
