Americas Rugby Championship Returns To Victoria

The Americas Rugby Championship will be returning to Victoria, British Columbia for the third straight year Rugby Canada announced today. The Argentina Jaguars, Canada 'A', the Eagles Selects, and Uruguay will once again by participating. The tournament takes place at Westhills Stadium, the home of the Canadian Centre of Excellence, on October 11th, 15th, and 19th. The choice of Victoria isn't surprising. The city is a hotbed of rugby in North America and last year's tournament had very strong attendance.

For the U.S. and Canada the tournament presents an opportunity to test out fringe first team players, as well as up and coming players, against difficult competition. Each year several members of the team have gone on to get significant minutes with the Eagles. Danny Barrett and Tai Tuisamoa were two players that shined last year. John Quill broke out the year before. Canada has their domestic Canadian Rugby Championship to build into the ARC. This will be the last ARC before the World Cup and as such his a key tournament for players to prove themselves.

  1. if seattle pulls off a successful national 7s could the next logical step be to let them host a ARC?

from there is still successful i would think USARU would say that its time for a test match
