The games will mark the first time that Swiryn has returned to the field since retiring with persistent injury last year. Swiryn had first made his mark on the IRB Sevens Series before earning a professional contract in France with Agen. Since retiring he has moved to Seattle where he is a coach at the University of Washington. Test, as most know is a current stalwart for the U.S.A. 7's. Participating in the Games means that Test will likely miss the club 7's season in the United States.
For those who don't know, the Maccabiah Games--or the Jewish Olympics--are held every four years in Israel for Jewish athletes. The U.S. has had a long tradition of competing in rugby at the games, coming in third in 2009 and second in 2005. The team held tryouts in January at the Olympic Training Center in Chula Vista, California.
