This refereeing staff is not having a good game, for either side.
Minute 77: Lots of play in the U.S. end but not much is happening.
Full-time: Canada 23-3 Selects. Very disappointing match from the Selects point of view. Canada looked good.
Well, that's if for us. Look for a recap of the match tomorrow.

This is the type of results you can expect when playing Canada, or any other tier 2 nation, when you hire a head coach that is an amatuer high school history teacher with no professional rugby coaching experience. Don't blame Tolkin; blame Nigel for hiring the guy who spent the night after this loss raging about Mitt Rommey and how Obama "cheated" in the debate. Can some adults take over the Eagles please?
ReplyDeleteSurprised that Hughes and Magie (2012 JWRT winners) were not included in the roster. Goalkicking and game management seemed to be lacking and these guys delivered both in Salt Lake City.
ReplyDeleteIt's likely because they are in the middle of the school year, or at least I hope that's why.
ReplyDeleteIt is a little disappointing considering that a number of Canada's JWRT team that the JAAs beat twice were in their ARC squad but their players seem a lot less likely to go to college so may not run into the same availability issues.
Both were out because of school, as were some other players. They won't be available for the fall tour either. That said, I agree, both would have been great to have in the squad.
ReplyDeleteThere's a notable difference when comparing a 'junior' to 'men' that are trying to work themselves onto main National Squads, and quite possibly professional contracts in Europe, S. Africa, etc...
ReplyDeleteActually believe two school-age juniors are going to have an impact for the US, while playing teams such as Argentina, and to a certain extent Canada and Uruguay?
