With all due respect to the Bledisloe Cup match in Brisbane on Saturday, this week’s Game of the Week belongs to the Saracens-Racing Metro Heineken Cup match in Brussels. It’s hard to get excited about Australia and New Zealand playing for the third time in a couple of months, especially with so many players being out of the test and New Zealand already having won the previous two meetings. However, it is easy to get excited about what should be an intense Heineken Cup match. Both Saracens and Racing Metro are riding high after their respective wins over Edinburgh and Munster last weekend, and will want to beat the other to take the top spot in the group. The match should also be interesting to watch the battle between Olly Barkley and Charlie Hodgson.
Still, what makes this match even more interesting is its location. The Saracens have gone out of their way to try and place fixtures around the world, just recently having plans to host Heineken Cup matches in South Africa and New York thwarted. It will be interesting to see how lively the crowd is and whose supporters are the most vocal.
